During the last few weeks, the children in the Enchanted Forest room (pre-school) at Once Upon a Time Daycare have really enjoyed learning and discussing Captain Sir Tom Moore. The children showed lots of interest after reading a book about what he did to help raise money for the NHS.

We decided together that it would be a great idea if we could help too!

We have arranged for the children to take part in a fundraising week! This will begin on the 26th April. We will be walking 20 laps of our garden each day, and each day thinking of a different way we can do this, whether it be running, hopping, sidewalking, walking, we are going to explore different ways of moving each day! Over the course of the week this will equate to 100 laps just like Captain Sir Tom Moore did!

We will be raising money for a small local charity called Shelagh’s Sewing Circle. Shelagh set up on her own in March last year with a few volunteers, creating masks for the NHS and frontline workers for no cost at all.

Shelagh now has 146 volunteers, and they have created and donated over 75,650 masks this past year. Shelagh and her volunteers have also won ‘The Big Thankyou Award 2020’.

Shelagh has made a video to explain to our children what it is she and her volunteers do, and the children happily handed out some handmade masks to all the staff in our setting.

The children are so excited about our fundraising week. Please donate if you can, to support our little ones on their first fundraising journey for such an amazing cause!
