Story

We have decided to walk 41 miles visiting all the iconic properties of the Monopoly board to raise money for two charities close to our hearts, The Dominic Barker Trust and the Bone Cancer Research Trust.

Ollie: The Dominic Barker Trust, or Dom’s Fund, researches the causes and treatments of stammering and supports Speech and Language Therapy and practical research at ground level. It also supports local and national initiatives to reduce the stigma, prejudice and ignorance around stuttering. Dom was my uncle and he had a stammer. Tragically he took his own life aged 26. I would really like to support this trust in memory of him and to raise awareness of the important work of this charity.

Freddie: Primary bone cancers are malignant tumors that arise from bone cells in the body. Unlike other cancers they can often affect young people under the age of 30. Treatment options are limited, often debilitating and often survival rates are low. More research needs to be done to find effective treatments with fewer side affects. The bone cancer research trust are involved heavily in the funding of research into new treatments for those with primary bone cancers. This is especially close to my heart as my aunt was diagnosed with a type of primary bone cancer in 2016.
