Story
The image of Christian Erikksen lying prone on the pitch at Euro 2020 a few weeks ago was quite harrowing and showed the immense value of quick response in the case of medical emergencies.
A defibrillator is its most effective when administered within the first minute of a victim collapsing. If a defibrillator is used within the first minute, the survival rate can be as high as 90%. If a defibrillator is used within the first 3 to 5 minutes, the likelihood of survival is roughly 74% showing that having a defibrillator close by really makes all the difference.
Old illtydians is looking to raise funds to purchase a defibrillator that can be situated at the Old Library in Singleton Road in Splott. While we hope we would never have to use it, the potential to save the life of one of our hundreds of players is invauable. The defibrillator would also be for the whole community, within easy access of Moorland Primary school, Hinton Street playground and for all of the community groups who use the Library.
