Story
Oisin Blaney
Our son Oisin, was a happy, healthy boy who enjoyed life. He loved swimming and often took our breath away when he could keep his head underwater for 20 seconds at a time! He loved to play football he would run straight to the goals, throw the ball in, then run off giving himself a big cheer. He loved singing and recording himself on the nearest mobile phone. On the trampoline, he loved to lie down and let his sister bounce around him in order to make him leap in the air. He also loved to give her a sneaky nip and giggle when she leapt in the air with a squeal.
He passed away suddenly on 17th June 2009 and left a huge void in all our lives. Nine years later, we can look back at those treasured memories with a smile on our face.
Oisin also loved Knockevin Special School and often stood outside our house waiting for his bus even though he could have waited in his house. At Knockevin, Oisin received physio, occupational and speech therapy, he went swimming and horse-riding and the staff who cared for Oisin were indeed special.
It is against this background that we would like to give back to Knockevin in order to help other children at a time of educational cutbacks as well as keeping the memory of Oisin alive.
