I've raised £2500 to fund the replacement of Oban's Northern Lighthouse board pier webcam to provide live stream views whilst Oban is closed to visitors.

During Lockdown1 last year our supporters raised enough money to replace the webcam on North Pier (pictured). The new camera is now providing wonderful images to thousands of fans who are unable to visit Oban. Now we want to replace our second webcam located on the Northern Lighthouse Board pier on the other side of Oban bay. This camera is still working, but the difference in the quality between the two is all too apparent and we hope to replace the old webcam so we can share top quality views to all those stuck in lockdown - wherever you are.
As an active volunteer for Oban and Lorn Tourism Alliance sharing images of the town with our visitors is important to me. I've been involved with tourism throughout my working life and like many in this area rely on a vibrant and sustainable tourism industry to keep our rural community viable. Tourism is everyone's business and in Oban and Lorn we are missing our visitors and our economy is suffering. Of course we want folk to stay safe and stay home but in the meantime we don't want you to forget where we are or what we offer.
So please give whatever you can afford so we can keep supplying live views of our beautiful bay and the comings and goings along the Esplanade. The bay may not be as busy as usual with leisure craft, but as Oban is the main hub for Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac) and their life-line ferry services to Mull and the Hebridean islands off the west coast, there is always activity to enjoy. Please help us keep these cameras streaming and be #ObanMinded #LoveOban
We hope you enjoy your virtual visit and hope to see you in person when it's safe to travel for pleasure.
