I've raised £1000 to support the National Youth Folklore Troupe of England (NYFTE)

With the end of 2020 and with support from FCSH we have passed our initial fundraising target. Thank you! We have a new season ahead of us. Hopefully a more active one. So continue income from contributions will continue to be appreciated.
We are especially grateful to the Friends of Cecil Sharp House (fcsh.org.uk) who have chosen to direct fundraising from some of their events to NYFTE.
NYFTE (pronounced "Nifty") is the National Youth Folklore Troupe of England, a group of young people from all over the country who share an interest in traditional music, song and dance. You can find out more about us at our web site nyfte.org.uk.
We are a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers and funded by donations from supporters and the contribution of parents. We do not receive any funding from national folk organisations or government institutions. We require a steady flow of income to keep the team financially viable.
Expenses include: keeping members supplied with costumes and equipment, first aid supplies, amplification equipment, keeping the team van on the road, expenses for tutors and team organisers and covering some of the costs of our training and performance events so that the full price of attendance does not fall on parents.
With the global lock-down for the pandemic all of our live appearances, at which we normally collect funds, have been cancelled, but we have maintained the full programme of events by shifting to online training and performances. That has eliminated some of our expenses but also means that we have lost the opportunity for collecting donations at live events. Consequently we are, for the first time, trying out online fundraising to make up some of that shortfall. It will also make it easier for our supporters to contribute to keeping the team in top condition ready to charge back into live performances once restrictions are lifted.
Due to the way that the crowdfunding platform works for organisations such as ours, the funding has to be run through an individual and their bank account. As chairman I promise that all funds received (less the processing fees taken by Justgiving) will be transferred into the NYFTE general account from which they will be spent on the general maintenance and expenses of the team.
