Story
We’re fundraising for a legal challenge against the disastrous North West Relief Road in Shrewsbury.
This four mile stretch of road will destroy nine irreplaceable veteran trees including the iconic 550 year old Darwin Oak, named after the town’s most famous son.
It will also fell over a thousand other trees, rip up 4km of hedgerows, and destroy vital habitats. It’s a Shropshire Chainsaw Massacre!
The NWRR will take 130 years to be ‘net zero’, and it risks irreversible contamination of the town’s drinking water supply...
To stop the road, we’re taking Shropshire Council to court...
But this costs money!
Can you help us raise £20,000 for a Public Inquiry and Judicial Review?
If you're a UK citizen, the government is spending £200m of your hard-earned taxes to pay for this destruction. We think that money would be better spent on sustainable transport, or our crumbling schools, or the NHS.
Every penny we raise will be spent on the legal challenge and anything left over will be donated to The Good Law Project to help them fight other climate & nature wrecking roads in the UK. Please give whatever you can and share, share, share this appeal! Thank you!
