Story
"A community first responder can make the vital difference between life and death"
Community First Responders (CFRs) are sent to emergency calls to start vital treatment within minutes to stabilise patients before an ambulance arrives.
Jean Harris is an award winning CFR based in Nuneaton, Warwickshire and is the ONLY ACTIVE CFR in the largest town in the county. Research Garage Group have kindly donated a Fiat response vehicle but the insurance premium has to be paid for by donations. Jean now needs to raise enough money to pay for the insurance, otherwise the car will have to be returned and the community will miss out on a vital life changing resource.
Jean is part of the Midlands Emergency Response responder group, a charity organisation based in Coleshill, Warwickshire. The group raise money and coordinate CFRs in the area but do not have the funds to pay for the insurance.
Any money you can spare can help towards saving a life.
Jean recently won a Warwickshire Community and Voluntary Action Award for her dedication to helping others. Keeping the response car on the road and in our town is vital.
This comment is from a Nuneaton resident Jean responded to last year:
"Jean came to my rescue in September last year when I was struck down suddenly with a heart attack. She kept me calm and under control until the ambulance arrived and whisked me off for life saving surgery. Very well deserved award. "Thank You" for all you did for me, doubt that I would have made it without your help!"
Your donation, no matter how small, can go a long way to helping Jean save lives.

8 years agoI've been contacted by the North Warwickshire CFR group today and have been made aware that they do have some responders based in the town too. I was unaware of these as they aren't booked on regularly when I am on shift sending the CFRs out to emergencies. I will be meeting with the group co-ordinator soon to see if I can help in any way and have invited them to visit me in EOC when on shift.
