Daffy Don Allen was a pioneering DJ in the 1960's bringing all-day music to the UK on Radio Caroline North, and he inspired many people to take up a career in radio. Daffy Don Allen brought his "Big Wide Wonderful World" and his "Country and Western Jamboree" to the air waves and was a major force in bringing Country Music to the listening public. Sadly, Don died of a heart attack in 1995 at the age of 56, a great loss to everyone who loved him and enjoyed his zany humour on the radio. All these years later Don is talked of by people who knew him and were influenced by him to enter the world of music radio. I feel it is time to remember Don's legacy by sponsoring a UK Country Music Award, as presented by UKCountryRadio.com celebrating the best in UK Country Music. This will keep Don's memory alive and celebrate his influence on UK Country Music.
