I've raised £15000 to legally battle a high risk plan to mine huge caverns under Larne Lough to store fossil fuel gas. It will also cause a dead zone in the sea .

Islandmagee is a beautiful peninsula along the famous Causeway Coastal Route one of the most spectacular areas within Northern Ireland and is home to a rich abundance of marine and bird life.
This area is under threat and high risk due to the planned activities of Islandmagee Energy , who want to mine 7 caverns under Larne Lough and dump the mined waste into the sea at Castle Robin , a stones throw from Browns Bay, Portmuck, &The Gobbins,
The Northern Ireland marine task force , a collaboration of 10 environmental organisations are opposed to this project and have many serious concerns about the impacts upon our wildlife.
Our community also have many concerns about the high risks & impacts regarding construction, noise , heavy goods traffic, blasting, pollution etc.
Families have been coming to the beaches and headland walks here for many years , basking in the knowledge that what we have is beautiful and untarnished and sharing an appreciation for the amazing array of wildlife that choose to live here .
Our hearts are broken, our minds are in turmoil and we feel violated by those wishing to capitalise at the expense of that which is precious and dear to everyone else.
Legal challenges can become long , drawn out and substantially costly. Therefore need to maintain and possibly increase our fundraising efforts in line with these expenditures.
Thank you most sincerely to all who have contributed thus far and have pledged funds also.
