Story

Help the Anti-Racist Mum

Nikki Brooker has spent three decades making sure ignored voices get heard.

Now she needs her community to stand beside her.

Through no fault of her own, she and her daughter face homelessness.

Help us keep Nikki safe, housed, and able to continue the work she's dedicated her life to.

Who is Nikki?

Before "Anti-Racist Mum," Nikki was fighting for young people's seats at the table from age 15, her tenacity vital in the establishment of the UK Youth Parliament.

Since then she's worked across youth participation, mental health, inclusion, and anti-racism.

Her impact is measurable: at Maidstone and Mid-Kent Mind she reported a 200% increase in young people accessing services, with 359 engaging in courses and peer-support groups in one year.

As Young Carers Team Lead with Carers First, she helped 18 young people transform a local youth shelter through graffiti and hip-hop workshops, and brought in over £200,000 in grants and sponsorship to increase the support offered to Young Carers.

The Anti-Racist Mum

Her work centres Global Majority children navigating racism in schools and communities. She challenges white people to do the uncomfortable work of examining their own conditioning, not performative allyship, but practical accountability. She openly shares where she's been challenged and changed, teaching that accountability is how we become better allies, parents, and community members.

Why now?

The woman who has spent years helping others navigate difficult circumstances is facing an incredibly frightening period of uncertainty herself.

This is about a community recognising the value of someone who built community for other people.

When one of ours is struggling, we don't leave them behind.
