Story
My name is Nigel Warrick and I have been the Chairman for Hungerford for 8 years where we have enjoyed a meteoric rise of 3 League promotions to the Vanarama National League South. Our success however has brought its own financial challenges as denoted below.
In this period the club has successfully evolved into a vibrant Community Spider-Web which includes a Senior team in the Vanarama National League South, a National League Academy side (50 students), The Swifts, Club Members and several layers of Juniors.
The Senior Team are more than surviving at this new level and are currently in a lofty 10th position in the National League but will be chucked out of the league if we cannot provide the necessary ground grading by March 2017. We are all immensely proud of our Club, we need to continue to strive and turn a once ugly duckling into a Swan in order to appease the stringent National League requirements.
Our short fall is purely financial having to provide a new seated terrace for at least 100 fans, upgrade our floodlights, add more turnstiles and upgrade the club house. As you can imagine we are always up for a fight as the club’s nickname is the Crusaders but have no magic financial wand.
Unlike other clubs in our league we are totally self-funded and run by a Community Committee of volunteers. We currently successfully raise money for the running costs and Senior player’s wages but would welcome any help to reach our new imminent infrastructure upgrade targets.
Hungerford Town Football Club is steeped in history and was established in 1886 originally playing on the Hungerford Marsh Field before moving into the current Bulpit Lane ground.
In return for your help:
The HTFC Community will organise a ‘Crusaders’ celebration ‘Battle of the Bands’ concert on the pitch at the end of the football season (MAY) and invite you and 1 other as a special VIP guest.
