Story

Nigel Perrin was a consummate musician and performer who brought inspirational leadership to choirs, musical soloists and young singing students during the course of his amazing life. With his infectious personality and passion for musicality and performance, he passed on all the lessons he had learned from childhood as a chorister at Ely Cathedral, inspiring singers in all walks of life to realise the best musical version of themselves and their groups. Hundreds of amateur singers were enabled to give performances of musical excellence and creativity under his expressive and meticulous conducting.

Nigel was acutely aware of the challenges faced by individuals, choirs and schools in funding their singing endeavours. A modest grant can help support singing lessons for a gifted pupil, take a school chamber choir on a life-changing tour, or enable a choral director to attempt a more ambitious programme than he or she might. With this JustGiving page set up in his memory, we are starting out on the journey to a long-lasting funding platform and grant scheme. We hope to attain charitable status, as part of which process we will set out clear criteria for applying to the fund; and awards will be made after thoughtful discussion with a team of respected musical and professional leaders.
