So, heres the thing (Stick with me)

Last May, I started running. Slowly, I built up my miles and despite a foot injury in October I am about to run my first (AND LIKELY ONLY!) half marathon. 13.1 miles of sweat, tears, jelly babies and pure determination. I wasnt going to fundraise because in all honesty, I wasnt sure I would get there. A few months ago that distance would be impossible, but now, I think I can make it.

Who am I fundraising for?

When Harriet was small, I met a lovely pregnant mama at a baby group. We then crossed paths again last June, right as my running journey became a regular occurance. She ran my first 5k race with me, and has run weekly with me ever since. Through the tears, sick (yes that happened on saturday just gone) tantrums and drama she has pushed me to be better and stronger. She has become a close friend. This lovely mama (Emma) has a beautiful baby boy, and heres his story.......

William was born in 2016 and was diagnosed in June 2017 at 7 months old with a neuro-genetic condition called Angelman syndrome. This is a chromosome deletion (impairment for some) which leaves him facing a life of therapy to learn to walk, even just sit properly and communicate. He has, amongst other things, ataxia (movement disorder), dysphagia (difficulty co-ordinating swallowing), a slow brain wave pattern (encetholopathy), severe complex life threatening epilepsy that puts him in hospital every couple of weeks and even intensive care on life support, laryngomalacia and low muscle tone everywhere leaving him with breathing and oxygen issues and general issues doing things we take for granted.

I see firsthand how difficult day to day life can be for William and his family. I am a regular visitor on his admissions, and have done my epilepsy training so I can have William on my own. This boy is strong willed, firery, very cuddly and very very loved. Any donations recieved will go directly to paying for Williams physio sessions and equipment. So, 13.1 miles for William.
