During a difficult 2022, in which our 13 month old daughter was diagnosed with bilateral kidney cancer, the oncology unit at Alder Hey became a central location in our lives, as did Ward Dewi at Ysbyty Gwynedd whenever we needed - or continue to need - local care.

Emi received 12 rounds of pre-op chemo, was in theatre for 6.5 hours on the day of her surgery, and is now in the latter stage of 9 rounds of post-op chemo. It’s not the path we ever imagined our lives taking, but her strength and character blows us away daily. Throughout all this, her 6 year old brother Sam has been a rock to us.

After raising over £4.5k for Young Lives vs Cancer back in September, i have decided to continue fundraising through running (very slowly!) between now and the end of Emi’s treatment, with proceeds going towards Ward 3B (oncology unit) at Alder Hey who have treated and cared for Emi incredibly throughout this process, as have the amazing staff at Ward Dewi Ysbyty Gwynedd whenever we have needed them locally since diagnosis.
