Story
For many years car parking at Welsh hospitals has been free, except for at the largest hospital in Wales, UHW, Cardiff. The car parking at this hospital has been run by outside companies for many years and many staff and visitors to the hospital have fallen foul of parking infringements. A group of healthcare professionals from UHW have attempted to fight these parking fines in court for the benefit of all who have suffered at the hands of the parking company. Unfortunately, the Crown Court found in favour of the parking company, leaving all who visit & work at UHW still at the behest of an outside company controlling the parking, & those who fought with hefty court fees to pay.
I was not in court today, nor do I have any fines to pay because I was lucky in the parking lottery & was awarded a parking permit. My colleagues were unlucky. Some driving 20 miles to work & back but not being deemed eligible for a permit.
I strongly believe that the decision made by the Court today was wrong, but it has been made. So now I ask for your help. This brave group of people stood up for all of us who have ever had parking fines anywhere. They gave up time, money, & energy to fight. They should not be out of pocket because they lost.
Please. Please, if we all spare a little we could come together & show them that we are grateful & we support them. With fines & court costs the bill runs into the thousands so any little will help. If the amount raised exceeds the costs any remaining donations will be forwarded to the Intensive Care Unit UHW where a number of the group work.
Thankyou for reading my appeal & helping in any way you can

No one should need to pay to visit a hospital, but expecting staff to pay is outrageous!
