Story
We need to install a new boiler in our village hall. We are in Oxfordshire where the hall was built in 1913 for the community. it is a very unique building made from local brick and stone and is run by a voluntary Committee , the upkeep of this magnificent building is huge. We are now faced with the replacement of equipment to run the heating system. Over the years the premises have been used for so many local activities including meetings, music and dancing, keep fit classes, snooker, darts, senior citizens lunches, film shows birthdays, weddings, wakes, all sorts of parties not to mention many episodes of Midsomer Murders have been filmed there. As the cold weather approaches it is imperative we install a new boiler and appeal to everyone to please help us.. I, personally, have been involved in the running of Nettlebed Village Club for over 40 years, my mother and grandfather before me and therefore am passionate in this building being left for the next generation to benefit from the legacy we have enjoyed.for so long. Any help, large or small will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

3 years agoWell the shiny new boiler is in situ and working well, in fact a bit too well for the fitness class but we can make adjustments to get the temperature right. We now have an invoice for 14k to pay!!! Thank you so much to all who donated to this cause. it has been truly appreciated. We welcome you all in the Club at any time and to reach our target of 5k towards this latest set back I appeal to those who have not yet got round to donating to help this happen. No amount is too small and will be equally received with thanks. Sue

3 years agoHooray, today we had heat in the Club, the first time in 6 weeks. I am informed that for the Senior Citizens Coffee morning it was lovely and warm!! There is still work to be done which should be completed this week. As you can imagine it has been vey stressful but due to the generosity of folk we have raised, including cheques, towards £6000.00. which is terrific in just over a week.. We now face a bill of £14000 to pay the outstanding bill so beg, once again, for help where possible. Any donation, however small adds up. Sue Worth President
