Story
Nelson Thomlinson Team Kenya 2019
In 2016 Mr David Watson (a former pupil) visited our school. David has published many well-known guide books and maps of Cumbria but also is renowned and very well respected for his work in the Masai Mara in Kenya.
Drawing on Mr Watson's detailed knowledge of the area and his in-depth understanding of the logistics involved, we have decided to run our own school trip to Kenya in July 2019.
Six NTS Sixth Formers and Mr Beechey and Dr Lovegrove will visit the Masai Mara reserve spending time in the bush whilst also completing time working at the local school and medical centre where life changing work takes place. Many of the Maasai pupils walk bare foot to school attending classrooms with mud floors. The team will then journey 5 hours north east where they will spend time working in a local orphanage. Pupils will raise the trip costs themselves; our fund-raising is for the project elements only which we hope will be the highlight of the whole trip. We will be completing fund-raising activities out of school so any help you give us will be greatly appreciated.

7 years agoThank you ever so much for your kind and generous donations to the team. To date including cash we have £550 raised so far. This should make a real difference next year in Kenya with the children at the school, the medical centre and at the orphanage. Mr Beechey

7 years agoJust back from London after a brutal marathon. Mile 1-9 brilliant. Mile 12.5 -wow I am actually feeling tired. Mile 16 -I'm totally gone in this heat -walking. Then dodging other unfortunate people collapsing I thought about packing in but some people had sponsored me so I couldn't let them down. After 4 water stops where I had to stop and have a good motivational talking to myself I finally finished. Apparently I was on the BBC at the end looking very wasted. Thanks to all of you for the encouragement.
