Story
Every year the Mayor of Preston appoints a number of charities to be the official Mayoral Charities for their term of office. In May 2022, Neil Darby was installed as the Mayor of Preston and choose two local charities in Preston to be his charities.
The Intact Centre
Based in the Ingol and Cottam ward and serving the wider community, the Intact Centre is a brilliant charity and community centre that carries out a wide range of services for people in Preston. From helping local families to manage food poverty to teaching vitally important skills to help people find work - and so much more - they work incredibly hard with a group of very dedicated staff and volunteers.
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity
Amazing things happen at Royal Preston Hospital every day, but there will always be a need for those added extras that can make all the difference to patients. This is where Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity comes in. It is their mission to help fund the items at our hospitals which are over and above what the NHS can provide - helping to improve the lives of patients, families and staff at our hospital.

2 years agoThank you all so very much for all of your support - it means so much to be able to help these incredible local charities. I'm delighted to say I completed the Preston 10k in a time of 49.01 (under my target of 50 minutes!). As of today, including donations made directly as well as your kind contributions here on JustGiving, we have raised £737.60. That's incredible! Thank you all for your support so far and we look forward to the next event of the year. Look out for updates coming soon on Carols in the Chamber! Save the date: 8th Dec 6.30pm

2 years agoJust a couple of days left now until the Preston 10k - and I'm really excited and proud to have received my running number. Number 1 is great but a lot of pressure! I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has already donated towards the amazing Mayoral Charities - the Intact Centre and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity. Together we can all help these charities make a huge difference to those in Preston who need them.

2 years agoWe've got this bespoke running top made so people know how to donate and who I'm running for for the Preston 10k in September! It looks great! Someone has suggested that we auction this off to raise more funds after the race - so that's what we'll do!
