Naunton Village Hall was built in 1937 and has served the local community well over the past 80 years. It is now in dire need of extensive refurbishment if it is to continue to act as the socail hub for this relatively isolated area of the Cotswolds.
The residents of Naunton have approved an extensive rebuild programme which includes: full insulation, rendering and painting the exterior, new double-glazed windows throughout, energy-efficient heating, redecorating the interior, extending and refitting the kitchen, installing Wi-Fi and a meeting room for local businesses or help groups to use.
In recent years, Naunton has lost its school, shop/post office and chapel, there remains only the pub and church neither of which offer facilities for village activities.
There is a real dange that the hall might be deemed 'not fit for purpose' at some point in the future which will deprive the community of a social hub.
A revitalised hall will, not only, benefit Naunton but, also,.other communities in this area: there hae alrady been expressions of interest to use a warm, firendly hall by local schools and those running exercise and other well-being classes.
In addition it could then be used for luncheon and/or breakfast clubs for the elderley or isolated; travelling hair dresser, post office or medical support for those without access to their own personal transport as the village does not have public transport links to nearby towns.
