Story
Myself and a team of 14 people, are attempting the National 3 Peaks Challenge in aid of fundraising for an 11 year old boy of the name Harry Worrell. He has the degenerative rare disease, Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 3, or more commonly known as motor Neurones disease. At his present state, he does have partial functionality of movement but with great difficulty. By the age of 14, his condition could be so debilitating that he may potentially lose his ability to walk. On that premise, his family are trying to raise £100,000 to enable him to have a revolutionary treatment only made available in the U.S called Spinraza treatment. Potentially, this could prolong, treat or even give him partial or possible full functionality over his movement, speech etc. The NHS at present cannot treat this devastating disease so it is vital that he can have an opportunity as soon as possible to receive this treatment in America.
As a team, we have a target in mind in excess of £1000, so any donations to this cause would be greatly appreciated by himself and his family. The funds that you donate will directly be paid into the bank account of one of his family members on 25th May 2017. We are therefore merely generating support and an awareness for Harry's cause. The official link to his charity page is https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/sophie-worrel.
The challenge we are setting out to do, is the National Three Peaks Challenge, which is going ahead on the weekend of the 26th to 28th May 2017. The challenge entails an individual or team to climb the UK's three highest peaks in the time of 24 hours. Starting off at Ben Nevis In Scotland, we would then travel to Scafell Pike in Cumbria and thereafter Snowdon in Wales. This will require plenty of physical dedication, so we are training between now and May, though we strongly feel this cause is worth every minute of our time.
