Story
Tristan was born in 2006 at 27 weeks old and by the time he was only 18 months, was diagnosed with spastic dyplegia, a type of cerebral palsy. His condition means he does not have the same use of his legs as the rest of us.
Tristan, now 7 years old is an amazing and inspiring little boy.
Although he knows his condition will never let him run, dance or play like the other children around him, his face is never without a smile and he lives his life with joy and laughter, but as his parents, he think he deserves even more.
We've just heard the news that Tristan may be accepted to undergo a procedure called a selective dorsal rhizotomy operation, which can help him free his legs and in the future help him do all the things other children enjoy.
Unfortunately, this operation is no longer available on the NHS. It was offered to a small number of children with fantastic results, but the government funding has now stopped, no sooner than we got the news he was eligible.
The operation was featured on 'What Would Be Your Miracle' on ITV not so long ago, if anyone saw it, with another boy of similar age to Tristan. He went from sitting, watching his friends play football at school to within a few months scoring his first goal at his favourite football team's stadium.
We are determined, with your help, to give Tristan the same chances. It won't be cheap, with the operation costing around £25000 and the same again in the physiotherapy he'd need for 2 years to see him through the whole programme and give him the best chance at success.
We know we're asking a lot, but we won't stop asking, shouting or stop trying to move heaven and earth to help our boy walk, run, jump or dance. Such is his spirit and love of life, that If Tristan could dance it'd be all he'd ever do.
Let's help him dance.
