Our beautiful, lovely friend Gemma Epstein was diagnosed with bowel cancer in late 2016. Since then she has had all treatments available to her on the NHS but unfortunately the Cancer has spread, she is 36 years old, with a full and exciting life ahead of her.

The NHS, as brilliant as they have been has come to the difficult decision that there is no more treatment they can offer her. However, there is some treatment in Germany, Immunotherapy, which is a trial, that could possibly be lifesaving but the estimated cost is upwards of €90,000. This treatment is not available in the UK.

Haslingden, as a town is throwing a big charity event at St Mary's Football Club on Saturday the 21st July so please everyone come along and try to help to raise as much as we can. There is a charity football match, live music, bouncy castle, face painting and food.

Gemma has had more test results today and the news isn’t good. There are no trials available in the UK at the moment, which is what we were hoping for before she would have to seek the trials in Germany.
She is now waiting for more results from her tissue samples before anymore decisions are made. One of the next steps she is looking at are having her samples tested in Arizona as this may result in a treatment plan (payable) rather than the trials in Germany. She is going to use some of the money we have already raised to pay for these samples, which is fantastic!
There is another option to have private treatment in the UK which again will cost the earth, but again se is waiting for the results to find out what the best course of action will be.
The bottom line is anything that is going to happen beyond this point is going to cost more than some people’s homes! Anything anyone can donate is massively appreciated by Gemma.
