In May, Mi Mi's (not her real name) ex-boyfriend caught up with her on her way home from work in Thanbyuzyat, Myanmar. Before she could say hello, he threw acid on her face, arms and chest.

Five months later, she is still badly scarred - but not scared. That's why she is battling to become the first acid attack survivor in Myanmar ever to take her attacker to court, despite the fact that Myanmar has no effective domestic violence law to help her (you can read more about her story here, on Refinery29: http://www.refinery29.uk/acid-attack-survivor-story-myanmar).

Mi Mi is being backed by a group of women (http://www.akhaya.org/en) who aren't standing for this anymore - and in this extremely poor country, the group has already sourced donations of several thousand dollars from other Burmese women to help pay Mi Mi's legal costs, and her ongoing medical bills. But she needs more. Can you help?
