Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page. My name is Myah Mae Hauxwell and I am 8 years old and live in Nottingham with my mummy Lauren.

I am asking for help with this fundraiser to support me if possible with a state of the art bionic prosthetic eye with patented Digital Iris technology which can now incorporate a dilating pupil.

I have a rare condition called severe Microphthalmia, which is where my eye was under developed in my moms womb. Since my diagnosis from birth I have currently had 23 surgeries and procedures, and I am awaiting my 24th in the next few weeks. My surgeries range from, expanders to expand the socket, Microphthalmic eye fully removed, Skin grafts, Fat grafts, Granulomas removed, De bulking of socket to name a few. I have 2 very nasty scars on my tummy and at present I am unable to wear a prosthetic as the last operation was unsuccessful and i require one more to remove some fat from my socket for a prosthesis to fit and look as natural as possible.

Due to these being unsuccessful i have been wearing a clear conformer which unfortunately has meant i have been bullied, singled out and shamed for some time, which in turn has affected my confidence massively. I didn't want to go out as people could see me, i would hurt myself out of frustration, i would cry and call myself ugly because i believed no one liked me. I have been receiving counselling from a local charity, The Lashes Foundation, and because of this and my mummies and friends support, I am slowly starting to feel better in myself, but i just want to look “normal”. Even though my Mummy tells me I am the most beautiful girl in the world, and she doesn't want me to be “normal” it's all I understand and it's the emotion I feel and want nothing more than to look the same as my friends.

My mummy has been doing some research into the Advanced Artificial Eyes in America, who make custom fit state of the art prosthetics including a dilating pupil. The reviews are phenomenal and I believe that this would be a great opportunity for me to get 2 eyes that look the same and also incorporate a moving pupil. We are currently having Zoom meetings with him at $150 per call and a quote for the eye can be between $8000 and up to the $12000 (we are hoping it's the lesser with me being a child) Me and mummy would need to be over in America for 3 or 4 weeks for the appointments so will require accommodation whilst we are there, some appointments can be up to 7 hours long.

My agents, Icon talent, have kindly offered to help us raise this money alongside my mummy and friends from all over, dance / singing / modelling are all behind us and have offered to help to which I will be forever grateful. I will be looking to raise around £15000 to provide us with the eye, accommodation and flights. If any is raised over this amount, or our quote is less for the eye, the remainder will be split between 3 charities close to my heart;
