I've raised £5000 to help fund an all-terrain mobility scooter which will allow me to once again go out and about, off the beaten track and ON the beach.

Story

Oh hello there.

My name is Craig Muir and other than being somewhat nervous of asking for a bit of financial help i suffer from a chronic illness called Degenerative Spinal Disease which effects L4 L5 L6 S1 S2 in the lower lumbar area of my spine resulting in constant pain, daily medication to help alleviate it but most of all, a lack of mobility and low self esteem.
I do have a wheelchair which I use to get to medical appointments, getting the bus or a taxi and i also have a mobility scooter which, if I'm honest, I'm not a fan of.
Yes it gets me to the shop for a basket of food, which is great and gives me a feeling of independence but I recently fell off my scooter when I was trying to get up a curb, no dropped curb unfortunately, and ended up recieving surgery for a broken hip which, as you can imagine, compounded my feeling of isolation.
I used to be very active, both with work as a production engineer on music events, and then off snowboarding while work was quiet January through April.
Flying power kites at Druridge Bay in between contracts the rest of the year or jumping on a bike and going for a cycle for the day.
I lived for the feeling of being free, moving at speed, in the elements, something i really do miss with my lack of mobility.
I recently accepted it was time to look ahead, not back however and sold my classic Mini, which I wasn't allowed to drive anymore, sold all of my kites, kite buggy, push bikes and other bits and bobs to raise money for a new "TerrainHopper" but i'm still short of funds.
They start at £12,300 but mine comes to £15,745 with options to suit my needs, such as an extended chassis for my long legs, both sides of the frame opening for ease of access and better batteries, so i could go all the way to St Mary's Island and back on one charge, for example.
A new Terrain Hopper would allow me access ON to the beach, dirt tracks I used to cycle and lots and lots of smiles.
Something I used to do a lot of.
Very many thanks.
