Please Help Us Support MOM Plus ME An Amazing Charity Helping Orphans & Vulnerable Families Left In Ukraine

You will all be aware of the war in Ukraine. You may not be aware that in May 2022 Iryna– a Ukrainian refugee came to live with me in May under the Homes For Ukrainians in the UK scheme. Iryna spoke 6 words of English and I spoke no Ukrainian. What a journey of discovery it has been for both of us!! Over the intervening months, we have both learned a HUGE amount about one another and about ourselves.

One of the hardest things has been her sense of helplessness as she has watched her beloved country torn apart by war. She still has relatives living in Dnipro her hometown. Since the infrastructure has been wrecked by bombs things have been made more difficult as the electricity supply has been badly damaged and most of the time there is no power. Just yesterday the apartment block next to where her sister lives was obliterated by a bomb!

Before the war Iryna used to volunteer with ‘MOM plus ME’ a well established charity providing practical help to the most vulnerable in society: orphans (many of whom are disabled) and families escaping violence and trying to survive.

Mom Plus Me is still working tirelessly against all the odds. They are in desperate need of help, so we are fundraising on their behalf. Because the charity is based in Ukraine we are unable to run the campaign through the Charity giving route so we are crowd funding instead. Every penny or cent you give will be passed directly to the charity to help them continue their work.

We are running a local in-person event on March 4th and are also running this on-line fundraiser in the hope that you will help us help MOM Plus Me provide the help which is so desperately needed on the ground.

Imagine the difference the gift of warm clothing has made to orphans living with no electricity in the middle of winter in sub-zero temperatures – this is just one tiny example of the great things they are doing.

Your donation however small will make a huge difference to those who are struggling with the terrible impact of war and winter.
