I've raised £3000 to help save the Miners Arms, Nenthead.

The Miners Arms in Nenthead, Cumbria has been at the heart of our village for generations. The village is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is one of the highest villages in England. It has the highest church and primary school (where the pupils learn with altitude) and is popular with cyclists and walkers. The Miners Arms pub closed its doors in 2020* and has not reopened, it is now up for sale. The Miners Arms Community Association (MACA) was formed to try and achieve a community buy out of the Miners Arms.
Our first aim was to raise £3,000 to cover the initial costs of trying to buy the Miners Arms. This alllowed us to establish a website, becoming a community benefit society, start to set up a share offer, and pay for specialist advisors. The share offer when launched will allow the public to buy shares in the Miners Arms and help bring it back to its former position at the heart of the community. We have launched a pledge in principle page on our website www.minersarmsnenthead.com where we are basically asking you how many shares you think you may be willing to buy. Each share costs £1 and the minimum amount of shares you can purchase is 100. There is no commitment at this stage it is just to understand the extent of the support for our plans.
We are hoping to encourage previous visitors to our beautiful village and those that are passionate about saving the Miners Arms to donate to the pub the price of a pint. If you can stretch to a round or the equivalent of a pub lunch that would be fantastic and greatly appreciated.
As a community we are passionate about saving the Miners Arms, a recent survey carried out by MACA resulted in over 97% of responders saying that a pub was a vital part of the community that they wanted to see reopened. The Miners Arms will not just be a pub though it will be a community pub by the community for the community.
Every donation will go towards saving the Miners Arms, by paying for upfront project costs. If there is a surplus it will go into the pot to buy the pub for the benefit of all. If we are not successful in buying the Miners Arms anything left over will be donated to other Nenthead community projects.

*although the pub closed its doors the present owner operates an Airb&b from the premises.
