IN MEMORY OF ALI WATSON
On December 6th, we received the news that Ali’s life had been tragically cut short in an accident whilst he was in Dubai.
We have all had time to come to grips with this awful news which, if I am honest, still seems to be a nightmare.
My Mum flew out with my sister the day after hearing the terrible news and my Dad had no option but to stay at home as he is currently undergoing treatment in his battle against skin cancer which has spread to his lungs. To say that 2020 was a bad year for us is an understatement.
However, we move forward as a family and now appeal to all of you to help us out.
Those of you that knew Ali, know that he had a devil may care attitude to life, living each day to the max. This applied to both his personal and professional life which worked both as a positive and a negative. The downside of this is that he had no life insurance that we are aware off and very little in the way of ready money.
My Mum & Dad (Ali’s Mum & Step Dad, Lumi & Jon) have therefore been left with the difficult job of dealing, not only with the emotional aspect of Ali’s death, but also with the financial aspect of the costs associated with his repatriation, medical bills and funeral costs. Because of Dad’s illness he has been unable to work since March and this, along with COVID, has had a massive impact on their income. Therefore, I am setting up this fund in order to ease the burden on them to help towards covering the costs that they are now faced with.
The fund will also be used to set up a trust fund for Ali’s daughter Soulie who is just 5 months old. This will be held in her name and given to her when she is 18 years old. Any other monies over the years that she becomes entitled to will also be added to the fund.
Because the present funeral rules limit us to a small number of people attending, what we would also like to do is to invite all of you to send us your memories of Ali. These can be about anything you remember about him, how he has helped you, a funny incident or just your personal thoughts. Please write whatever you want and send them to the following email address.
mymemoriesofaliwatson@gmail.com
Feel free to write whatever you want and send to that address – these can have your name on or sent anonymously if you wish. Every single one will be printed off individually and then placed alongside Ali so he has something to read. The family will also be putting personal items in Ali’s coffin as we see fit.
There are many many people who have been in contact with us, all of who wanted to attend the funeral so we see this as a way of you all paying your respects to my brother.
Please give whatever you can to help my Mum & Dad and thank you for taking the time to read this.
Happy New Year.
Milly Watson x
