I've raised £1500 to Pay for sessions with 'Community Cycling' or to invest in some adapted bicycles for our Young People at Cherry Tree Lodge!

From the 1st March we are starting our “Miles and Smiles” sponsored event. This will run until the end of 2018 and has the ultimate aim of (collectively) covering 438 miles – the same distance as the Tour de Yorkshire. Whether it’s on foot, scooter, bike, wheelchair, buggy (but not car) then every mile covered contributes towards our goal. We want to get the children out and about when the weather allows and want them to feel the excitement around the event, hopefully we can catch some of the stage as it goes through Scarborough.
We are asking parents, friends, families and professionals to both sponsor us, and walk with us; this is a collective effort! Depending on how much we raise we will either buy sessions with community cycling, or invest in some adapted bicycles for ourselves, or if we make lots and lots of money then both!
Please would you sponsor the staff and children of Cherry Tree Lodge Children’s Resource Centre to cover an equivalent distance to the 2018 Tour de Yorkshire……438 miles! We are planning to do this by the 31st December and monies raised will pay for sessions with community cycling, or purchase of adapted bicycles, or both! (Wheelchair tandems start at £1000, tricycles at £500, rickshaw trikes are £1000).
Our target is £1500, but we would love to raise more!
Currently 22 children use our service and there are 23 staff. That means that every one of us has to cover just under 10 miles each. That might not sound a lot, but most of it will be done on walkers, in wheelchairs and in buggies- and that is not easy! When you come to see us, come and walk with us (and then we can count your steps too), sponsor us, ask your friends, your family, the lady at the corner shop!
Thank you for your support – we really appreciate it.
