HELLO, I'M MILENA AND I'M FUNDRAISING £65,000 TO FIGHT AN AGGRESSIVE AND RARE CANCER

Thanks for visiting my page, I hope my story will not only tell you about my battle with cancer but also that I have always believed that love and hope never dies even in the darkest and difficult moments of life and that is because of the help of the people who care about others, who have love and mercy and empathy to someone else’s suffering.

I'm raising funds for my treatment and your donation however big or small will help me to continue my battle with the cruel disease.

In 2017 I became pregnant and sadly lost my baby and because misfortunes never come alone, during the miscarriage management operation the surgeon discovered that I have a large tumour. I was told that I have a malignant neoplasm of the pelvis, this is despite the fact that I have always been in good health. I could not believe this was happening to me.

After the shock of losing the baby, to hear that I was losing my life too was heartbreaking but I decided to stay positive and fight the illness. I have a wonderful family which gives me so much love and support that I want to live and enjoy life for many more years.

When I thought that matters could not get any worse, my employer fired me shortly after I notified them of my diagnosis and whilst I was away on sick leave. I went from being a healthy person employed as an accountant for a property investment firm in London to being unemployed in hospital facing the worst crisis imaginable.

THE TREATMENT

Cancer is not a death sentence.It only makes my desire to live stronger.

In May 2017, I started 6 cycles of NHS chemotherapy treatment which helped to reduce the tumour considerably but it didn’t cure it completely. The harsh chemotherapy led to my hair falling out and many nasty side effects. I developed a life threatening neutropenic sepsis leading to many days in hospital then at home recovering between treatment cycles.

Since October 2017 after the chemotherapy the tumour appears to have grown again and Surgery or Radiotherapy are not options at the moment due to the risks.

I have been ill for over a year now and have found very advanced treatment at the Hallwang Private Oncology Clinic in Germany for a life saving therapy which gives me hope for a cure. The initial consultation with the hospital explained genomic profiling tests and targeted treatments and they estimated that it would cost at least £65,000.

This clinic offers targeted and personalized approach for my type of cancer and is superior to what is traditionally done for cancer patients. They undertake advanced DNA tests in oncology to find the optimal treatment for my case, use the most recent cutting-edge developments in medicine and combine the conventional medicines with alternative treatment options and natural remedies.

The cost of this treatment is unaffordable for my family, the initial laboratory testing and hospital accommodation is £22,000 and the estimated initial treatment for 5 days is £43,000 and I may very well need to raise more funds afterwards for follow up treatment.

The first starting point would be to raise some funds to access the consultations and the gene analysis and to give us a better understanding of the cancer and what treatment options would be the best for me going forward.
