Story
Thanks for taking the time to read my page... I'm looking to raise funds to compete in the World Jujitsu Championships in Australia in October 2017. I've been selected to compete in team GB- here's how I got to this point...
I began training with the Kyouken club based in Andover 2 1/2 years ago when I was 14. I was your typical lacking in confidence 14 yr old wanting to try something new.
I quickly started moving up through the belts, green belt within 6 months! 1 year in I was offered the opportunity to trial for the GB team- I Got in!!! I passed the trials with flying colours. Team GB training started across the UK- a strict exercise and nutritional plan started.
I competed in the Nationals in 2015 and achieved Silver in U16 Lightweight AMA- my coaches really felt I had potential at this point. This was followed by another Silver in the nationals in 2016! More training in different disciplines was needed to get me to the next level. I started training in K1, Brazilian Jujitsu, Sunrise Warriors for endurance alongside traditional Jujitsu. This was all on top of prepping and revising for my GCSE's!
All this work meant my place was secured in Team GB- next came competing for my individual place. In Feb 2017 I competed within the GB squad to confirm my place as the fighter to represent my weight category. I followed this in July 2017 with a Silver in the men's under 82kg at the nations!
The next hurdle is getting to Australia...
I am very passionate about representing my country, my club and my family. As the youngest member of the GB team I have a lot to prove.
I'd really appreciate your support getting me to my target.
The money I'm raising will cover my travel, living cost and accommodation for 3 weeks and fund the Team GB training kit and Gi that I'll need for completion.
Thank you so much for your support- please follow my journey to the World Championships #mikeyPGBJujitsu
