A group of individuals from some of the leading organisations in the insurance and legal market are taking part in the David Goggins 4x4x48 Challenge which will see brave participants running 4 miles, every 4 hours for 48 hours all to raise money for their chosen charities.
Involved in the challenge are leaders from S&G Response, Hudgell Solicitors, Kuro Health, Carpenters Group and Admiral Law. They will be taking part in the challenge from Thursday 27th to Saturday 29th May 2021 to raise money for three charities and causes; The Spinal Injury Association, Fans Supporting Foodbanks and Brain Tumour Research.
The group became inspired and joined forces to take on the challenge created by ex-navy seal and famous American Ultramarathon runner David Goggins, following the second official annual event held in March this year. Beginning at 4pm on Thursday 27th May all participants will continue to run 4 miles every 4 hours until their final run at noon on Saturday 29th May.
David Goggins first launched the 4x4x48 Challenge in 2020 and following its success has continued it into 2021. The challenge is designed test the limits of even the most well-trained marathon runners, as it totals 48 miles (or 77 kilometers) when complete, which nearly doubles the standard marathon distance of 26 miles (42 kilometers).
Mike Dunne, Client Relationship Manager at insurance legal firm Carpenters Group said:
“It’s a really difficult challenge; it’s not like a marathon and I’m looking forward to the fact it’s something different that not many people have completed before.
“The sleep deprivation is going to be the hardest part to deal with but I’m going to take my nine-month old daughter, Reeva, along for some of the stints in a running buggy. Having her with me, as well as supporting these worthwhile causes, will give me all the motivation I need to get through it.”
