Iʼve raised £1,550 to Help the people of the Kunchowk village in Nepal
- Kunchowk (VDC2) - Sindhupalchok district, Nepal
- Funded on Friday, 20th January 2017
Don't have time to donate right now?
Story
My mission is to raise funds for essential medical equipment, building materials, cooking utensils, food and and clothes for the people of Kunchowk, Nepal. This is one of the most affected areas post the massive earthquakes. Your donation will be used in its entirety (apart from a small service charge by Just Giving) to help children and what is left of the families, to rebuild their lives.
I have donated to many charities in my life, but never like this with the ability to go and see the difference it makes personally. I want to see the situation for myself and to give some hope to the people I have been in contact with through a friend and professional photographer.
My family and many friends think I am mad - but I simply want to use this time and opportunity to help, whilst of course getting to see the country as is, and what it can be again. Wish me luck, and I really do value your support.
Just so you know, I won't be coming back as a Buddhist Monk ;-), my intentions are purely humanitarian and of course, I will be taking lots of photographs from this journey.

8 years agoUpdate - The Village is much the same as it was a year ago, no young men to rebuild as they all left to work in the middle east. They are still waiting on a big government pay out to help them rebuild but it’s likely that this will not happen as it keeps getting delayed and will soon be history. Help is limited in Nepal so we will link with strategists to assist us. It’s winter in Nepal now and many people will be living in shelters without proper lighting or heating. Your generous help is greatly appreciated. Mike Ormesher

8 years agoWhilst here, thank you to Simon Watkinson the inspiration behind me raising the support for the villagers. So easy to forget how much people do and the time they give with so many tragedies around the world. Simon has 4 young children a wonderful wife 2 dogs and a very time consuming business and yet still finds the time to do this. I'm looking forward to joining you in Nepal to share the generosity of these wonderful supporters on this fund-raising page. Mike Ormesher

8 years agoHi all, I'm told that I will be receiving a message from the village of Kunchowk, Nepal before Xmas to thank you all for the fantastic donations received to date. They are so looking forward to my visit in February and the essential aid to rebuild their village and their lives. We are focussing on the school first as over 800 were destroyed in the earthquakes. I'll be sure to send on any photos that come back from my colleagues already out there helping them today with essential construction work. Many thanks again you are brilliant!! Mike.

I have worked for 35 years+ (non-stop) in an industry I enjoy immensely. However, I now have a bit of time to reflect, whilst deciding 'what next'. I want to see what I can do for others in need of urgent support. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity I have often considered.
