Story
Mick Allen has recently been selected to play cricket for England over 70's in Australia, in March 2018. Unfortunately the senior side is not a sponsored or funded age group, therefore, each player has to raise the funds themselves.
If you are part of the Northamptonshire cricket community you have most probably heard Mick Allen's name mentioned! He is referred to as 'Mr Cricket' or 'Mr Northampton Saints' for all the time and commitment he has put in to cricket in the community and his cricket club, Northampton Saints, for the past 56 years.
Mick has coached cricket to numerous children of different ages and abilities at Headlands Primary School, Cedar Road Primary School, Weston Favell CofE Primary School, Boothville Primary School and Eastfield Academy (previously Eastfield Primary School) as part of the Chance to Shine cricket initiative.
In addition to the above, he has also coached children of all ages and abilities at Northampton Saints Cricket Club for over 40 years!
He is also the chairman of Northampton and District Youth Cricket League and has been responsible for coordinating the fixtures for clubs across the area at u11, u13, u15 and u17 age groups, supporting the youth in the game for numerous years.
Mick's love of sport extends past cricket to local football, rugby, netball, basketball and table tennis. He also encouraged his daughter to play netball as a junior international, which she now coaches after being inspired by her parents commitment to sport. Mick would be seen regularly at Northampton Girls/Boys School encouraging the junior county basketball teams in years past but he can now still be found on the weekends at Old Northamptonians watching the football and rugby teams he used to play for.
As expected, at 70, Mick Allen has retired and only does minimal hours at The Saints Sports Club to help the out (as always) and to afford basic living costs. This means he simply cannot save this amount by March so would be very grateful for your support.
If you are a sponsor and willing to support Mick Allen, please send us a message and we will get back to you ASAP.
Thank you for considering helping Mick fulfil his dream of playing cricket for England!
