    Story

The 27th of December 2016. A night my wife and I will never forget.

We were giddy with excitement, expecting to welcome our firstborn with open arms within the next couple of months. With family and friends close, we were all fraught with anticipation of what life would be like with an extra laugh ringing around our home. A baby girl. Every mothers dream come true and every fathers worry! We were looking forward to our lives changing but unexpectedly, not how we had planned.

The 27th marks that day of change. A day that really should have been like any other post Christmas celebrations. Unfortunately for us, it was evening we lost our beautiful daughter. Through complications unknown, Lucy had to be delivered early and even though she fought as hard as she could, the fight was too great and Lucy passed from us at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. The heartache; incomprehensible.

Grief is one of lives biggest hurdles and thanks to the staff at the RAH, we were able to bring our girl home with us. A 'cold cot' was supplied by the hospital, which allowed Lucy to spend time with Mum and Dad. It allowed her to be in her own room and ease the pain of loss for us, her parents. The time was invaluable.

I'm sharing our story today to gain support - not only for our cause but for anyone else that finds themselves with loss of this type. We would like to raise funds for the RAH and further afield, to have more cold cot units in hospitals so parents can bring their child home. The cold cot cooled Lucy down to allow us an extra 72 hours at home with her. It can fit into a Moses basket allowing us crucial time to spend. We really feel it's invaluable to maternity units. NHS funds have been cut and that's where we would like to attempt in filling that financial gap, by raising awareness and buying extra units for hospitals.

Life is the biggest gift we can give one another, help us ease the pain of loss throughout Scotland.

    Thank you,

    Michael and Jill

Continued... Lucy's Star. Our main focus is to start buying equipment and getting them into the hospitals as quickly as possible. We will be aiming to go up & down Scotland to make sure each maternity unit / specialist children unit has 4 each. Me & Jillian would like to take this time to thank you all for your kind donations and support & we hope you continue to do so 💗

Continued... personal messages haves been very overwhelming. When we started the fundraiser we didn't expect it to take off as quickly as it did the money raised so far has been amazing. If manynof you read the paper where a story was done on our heartache you would have read that this is just the beginning of the fundraiser. We are still receiving donations from people which is truely amazing. We will be doing fundraising events throughout the year like race nights, marathons etc. I am hoping to eventually start a charity in Lucy's name called

I don't know where to start except the last 3 weeks have been very difficult for me & Jillian. We said goodbye to our beautiful baby girl on Wednesday which was the hardest day of our lives. We started this fundraiser to raise awareness & funds to buy more cuddle cots to help families should they find themselves in this devastating situation we are in. Words can't describe what this amazing piece of equipment done for us, it let us make so.many memories with our beautiful girl Lucy. The support we have received, donations, flowers &
