Story
We're 5 volunteers working with Plan My Gap Year at Meru District Hospital, Tanzania.
This is a small government hospital in the village of Tengeru in Arusha. Meru hospital helps to treat people from surrounding villages and is greatly under funded.
Due to the limited funding, the hospital is lacking in basic medical resources across all departments. This dramatically affects the quality of the care delivered to patients, despite the efforts of the dedicated staff.
Originally designed as a women's health centre Meru District Hospital has expanded to tend to general health matters. This has led to a stretching of their resources, particularly in the maternity unit, where a high volume of mothers come to give birth.
After seeing first hand the conditions in this hospital, we would like to raise as much money as possible to help improve their situation. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and would go a long way!
