One of the most pressing issues we have is maintaining the long term future of the building. Top of the list is the roof, it’s at the end of it’s life, leaks quite badly and needs a complete replacement. Smaller repairs don’t last and due to it’s condition often causes other problems in the process. Unfortunately we also have asbestos in the plaster in some of the first floor rooms, complete removal is required before we can do anything with this space. We’re looking at grant based funding options but these will take time to develop. In the meantime we’ve started a community funding effort which has had a great start, however we have a long way to go to reach our expected target of £50,000 to replace the whole roof and the asbestos removal.
