My son Bailey was rushed into hospital on 11th June this year after I suspected a water infection. You can imagine my horror when I was told he had Type 1 Diabetes and his levels were so high, he wasn't reading on the medical monitors. I was told he needed rushed to hospital immediately for an Insulin transfusion. Me and Bailey spent a week in hospital where we were established on Insulin injections and learned our new way of life.

Since then Bailey has been the bravest little boy and was just last week put onto an Omnipod 5 Insulin pump. He now wears 2 permanent pieces of tech on his tummy/leg/bum or arm which monitor his glucose levels and inject Insulin where needed.

Anyways.......I have written/illustrated a children's book called Bailey the brave. The book is about Bailey's journey so far into his diagnosis and I am hoping it will help children across Cumbria and further if at all possible. When Bailey was diagnosed I was given HUGE amounts of medical information and training but there was nothing for Bailey, nothing at his level. This books fills that void!

The books cost £2.83 per copy and I have been selling them at £5. I have done this so that the profit of £2.17 nearly buys another copy to donate :-)

I am fundraising to get them into Cumbrian hospitals initially and they will be given to newly diagnosed kids/kids currently going through the same life event we are.

I'm not sure If I have a target amount in mind - I can't predict how many newly diagnosed is there will be. I can however, aim for at least 50 copies in each hospital in Cumbria then maybe 10 in others across the UK.

Any donations big/small are appreciated. We are not an official charity but I am happy to send any evidence to prove where donations have been used to buy books as proof :-)
