Medcan Support is a non profit, community interest company and a central hub for education, research and support for families who have children suffering with severe treatment resistant epilepsy and where primary medications have failed.

These families have turned to alternative therapies, which are still unavailable on the NHS, so they can only gain access through private clinics. These botanical medications have changed the lives of their children by hugely improving their quality of life which mean the family as a whole benefits. Sadly this comes at great cost with families having to raise hundreds, or thousands each month to pay for the prescription.

There is a huge impact on families when learning your child has a very severe illness, one that has no cure and many suffering severe disabilities and developmental delay, knowing life will be completely different to what you imagined. This can cause severe anxiety, depression, PTSD and can be very common among parents. With the added burden of funding private prescriptions, we aim to support families financially with grants for mental health support, respite, holidays and specialist equipment.

We’ll continue to educate and advocate for a medicine which has transformed so many lives and brought relief in the darkest moments.
