Matthew was the victim of a vicious, violent and evil gang attack on the evening of Saturday 10th July 2021. The people of Lancing are disgusted and horrified by this unprovoked attack and want to do something to support Matthew. And what better way to support this talented and gentle young man than to buy him his first adult size violin?

Matthew English is a 15 year old talented violinist. He is outgrowing his three quarters size instrument and needs a full size, adult violin. Matthew plays for free around Lancing. Most recently at the street market in South Street on Saturday 3rd July 2021.

A reasonable full size students violin can cost as little as £300 - a decent quality violin is around £1,000 - a professional instrument can cost much more - up to £20,000. Some violins can cost millions. The more we raise the better quality instrument we can give to Matthew.

If enough money is raised it will, hopefully, be possible to buy some P.A. equipment to allow Matthew to perform to larger audiences.

UPDATE - Based in the amazing response in the first twelve hours, there may be more than enough to buy a good quality violin. If a larger sum is raised we will have another discussion with Matthew's mother to see if there's anything else Matthew needs, would appreciate or would cheer him up.
