Story
First of all I’d like to thank you for clicking onto my just giving charity page. This means that I at least have your attention...
The Background:
Those of you who know me well will already know that I suffer from Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome which leaves me bed bound and vomiting for up to 24 hours every 5-7 days. This means that I am in the words of my Sister...‘sparrow like'. So taking on this demanding John O'Groats to Land's End (JOGLE) bike ride is not only a huge physical challenge but also a difficult logistical one so this is not something I have considered lightly! - I would also like to acknowledge the crucial help of my parents and my Wife in making this even possible. Anyway, enough about me...
My Aim :
The reason I have decided to undertake this epic 1000 mile ride in June 2021 is to raise money for charities close to my heart. There are so many worthy charities in need of support especially during this pandemic but certain events have drawn me to the following recently: MIND – The mental health charity, CANCER RESEARCH, and the NHS Lister Hospital Radiology department, Stevenage where I work.
We have all lost people close to us whom we miss and who can never be replaced and this is even more evident in our present climate. These last 18 months have been a particularly sad and emotional time for me so I’m taking on this challenge not just in memory of those I have lost but to share my solidarity with those of you also affected by these particular circumstances.
I need your Help:
I urge you to please donate to these worthy causes so in the future hopefully less people will end up losing their lives due to mental health issues and cancer related illness. Remember, mental health issues, cancer and other physical health issues including Covid19 presently, needing medical intervention could affect us, our children and other members of our family at any time...
If my chosen charities don’t make you feel like donating then just simply donate to support me on this mammoth journey then sit back and take pleasure in watching me suffer via my updates along the way. - The more you donate the bigger the incentive I have in completing this massive personal challenge for these causes!
-All donations received will be split equally between these 3 worthy causes unless you leave a specific message along with your donation on my Justgiving page-
That just leaves me to say a simple but heart felt ‘Thank You' for your support and I wish you a healthy future, both mentally and physically.
P.S please feel free to send me any messages of support along the way. I’m going to need every single one of them as I may end up completing this ride on sheer mental will power alone!

4 years agoI would just like to thank EVERYBODY who has supported me on my JOGLE charity ride. The total today at the close of my Justgiving page (collected from all sources) amounts to.....£5858.60! I want to say a truly heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to all of you who contributed. Unfortunately, Justgiving will take a small percentage from this total before I am allowed to distribute this money to my three charities. You should be so proud if yourselves! I hope this money will help my chosen charities to save future lives so everyone can benefit. Matt x

4 years agoWell, I made it! All 1056 miles of it in 18 days of riding. I've cycled through headwinds, torrential rain but also warm sunshine on my adventure. I couldn't have done it without all of the support I've had from friends and family so I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me to raise over and above my target figure of £3000 which is now heading for over £5000 for the 3 charities. My just giving page will end in 3weeks so if you would still like to donate please do so soon Again, thank you all for your incredible support!
