    Story

Mary's Place is a place where newly qualified professionals can learn to not only survive their first few months of professional practice, but THRIVE. We know that in particular, nurses and teachers are leaving their professions in droves; support during the transition phase is critical. Mary's Place provides an important supportive environment for newly qualified professionals. Mary's Place focuses on those newly qualified because we know that those new to professional life are particularly at risk of leaving prematurely. The intention is that by providing an ethos of nurturing Continuing Professional Development, supported by the encouragement of healthy self-care practices, staff will be better able to thrive in challenging work environments.

Mary's Place is born following the untimely and unexpected death of Mary-Lou Abbott, pictured here, with her mum, Julie, founder of Mary's Place CIC.

Mary-Lou was 22 years years old when she died of meningio-encephalitis in January 2020.

Julie decided to create Mary's Place as a legacy to her daughter who was a Law Graduate and was passionate about helping others to develop

In establishing Mary's Place CIC, Julie combines her experience as a Nurse Lecturer with her expertise as a Certified Mindfulness and Resilience Coach. Mary's Place offers "Well-Being Days" and an online "Surviving to Thriving Programme". The ethos of Mary's Place is to provide a supportive environment in which soon to be qualifying and newly qualified professionals can not only survive, but THRIVE.

Mary's Place CIC is a registered (not for profit) company, your donation will support the delivery of our well-being days - starting in September 2023. Very many thanks, those attending the well-being days wholeheartedly appreciate your generosity.
