    Story

Early morning 20th August 2021, small independent businesses, shop owners and residents became victims to a terrible act of wilful fire raising. The culprits have appeared in court and been committed.

The fire was aggressive as it burnt properties to the ground and caused damage to surrounding shops and properties as emergency services fought the flames over a number of hours. The community is forever grateful to the emergency services for stopping the spread further, if you have watched the videos, we all genuinely feared our town would be taken.

These retailers have had a hard 18 months, trying to keep their livelihoods going through Covid, this devastating morning destroyed all their hard work, sweat and tears to survive. They did nothing but serve this community well, and did not deserve this...

Our community, want to support them to get back on the high street, and we will all be there for them when they do. This community fund page was set up at 11am on Friday 20th August 2021, and continues to receive donations from people and businesses who want to help them and their families get back.

This community crowdfund of donations which continue to grow will do everything it can to help and support businesses and families affected by this devastating fire. They are respected and much loved and did nothing to deserve this devastation to their lives.

Thank you to all of you who continue to share our story, we have captured the hearts of true kindness and shown everyone 'We are Dunoon'!, your kindness will prevail over acts of terror and destruction to our town. #Proud #Loving #Kind #We are Dunoon

Met my future wife in Dunoon (1987) and we have such great memories of that beautiful little town. May all former sailors (old and older), regardless of command, contribute to the cause.

Considering the damage, this is a very small contribution- but if we all give just a little . . .
