Story

Alfie Pentony is a 10 yr old boy from Newry who suffers from the 100% fatal genetic disease Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. In the 200 years since the discovery of the disease not one child has ever survived it. Alfie's muscles will fail beginning with the legs and arms, before moving in the lungs and heart. When these fail, Duchenne wins. Alfie is a fighter though, he's tougher than most other boys. Through his determination and attitude he has inspired boys all over the world in their own battles against the disease to try the treatment he has been receiving over the past 3 and a half years. Alfie is a unique trailblazer who has defied the odds so far by continuing to be treated with experimental infusions in The USA. These infusions are delaying the progression of the disease as we wait for a cure. Without them Alfie would not be able to run, play football or go to boxing with his friends. He has so much to offer the world and needs everyone's support to continue this war on Duchenne.
