Story
MarlowFM 97.5 is the volunteer community radio station for South Bucks providing entertainment, local news and support for the people of the area. Based in Marlow (of course), the station's target area stretches to Slough and Burnham in the east to Henley in the west, and from High Wycombe and Gerrards Cross in the north to Maidenhead in the south.
Our biggest ever fundraising drive, to build a new home, is now up and running. The original MarlowFM studio building had to be demolished late last year, so we now have to move to a new home (at the moment we're temporarily based at Marlow Library).
The good news is that we've been offered a fantastic location based in a local school in a pair of old garages in the school grounds, but it will take a lot of work from the volunteers at the station to convert that to a working radio studio. To go with that effort, we'll need money we don't have at the moment.
We'd like to raise as much as we can so that we can create a new home to be proud of with some much-needed new equipment. It will be a base from which we can do even more in the community, including with schools.
We are specifically raising money to raise money for one important piece of equipment - a mixing desk for the new studio. This item is really the heart of the radio studio - enabling the presenter to control the various sound sources such as music, microphones, phone calls and feeds from local events. You can see how vital it is.
Jenny and Chris Zaremba from MarlowFM ran in the Marlow Santa's Run in December raising money for this, and we now want to add to this amount with a further sponsored run. We are running in Paphos in Cyprus in March, where Jenny will run the half-marathon and Chris a 10k.
We hope you can sponsor us for our run and help keep MarlowFM alive as the community radio station for the people of our local area.
