My name is Mark Watson.

I have created this fund in addition to other fundraising campaigns to help support kim and Sophie financially for the next 6 months. Their story is below.

Kim Jenkinson works as a receptionist at a local GP practice and is the proud mother to Sophie Jenkinson, whom she has raised alone since Sophie was just 5 weeks old. Together they are inseparable.

Sophie is an ambitious and lively 18 year old studying film and media at college, and works part time at a local retail outlet in Hull. Like most 18 year olds Sophie enjoys life and spending time glamming up with her girlfriends.

All of this happiness and tranquillity was flipped upside down when on 25th March 2016 Sophie made the shocking discovery and all women’s worst fears, a lump on her breast. After a biopsy was taken on the 18th April Sophie and Kim’s worst fears were confirmed, Sophie was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia.

Now the fight commenced and an intense 6 months chemotherapy treatment started on 29th April.

Amongst this worry that has struck Kim and Sophie, there is an additional concern with Kim’s health as she suffered a major stroke in 2011. Needless to say neither Kim nor Sophie should have to put up with any added stress to an already very tense and worrying time.

It is my wish to raise enough money to help pay their rent and bills for the next 6 months so they can focus on their battle against Sophie's illness.

Kim and Sophie are very dear to all who know them, and any additional support we can gather will be huge in taking one burden out of their lives for now, in the hope and belief that they will pull through this together with the love and support from family, friends and hopefully some strangers who this story may strike a cord with.

I personally will be immensley grateful for any support small or large and I know that Kim and Sophie will too.
