    Iʼve raised £757 to help MK settle in the UK : ILR -> Passport (fingers crossed).

    London, United Kingdom
    Funded on Tuesday, 1st May 2018

    Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

    Please note: I have now stopped fundraising for ILR because my company has agreed to take it over and pay for my application. Phew. Unbelievably relieved. If nobody minds, I will redirect the funds that I have already raised towards my future passport application - Stage 2 of settling in the UK (if all goes well with ILR - Stage 1), as it is also expensive.

    I've changed the target fundraising amount accordingly.

    Thank you so much to everyone who donated & I will definitely do my fancy dress walk in the next few months!

    * * *

    It's been over 10 years that I've been in the UK & I finally qualify for Indefinite Leave to Remain. I was hoping that perhaps some kind souls out there will assist me in making this vital step towards settling in this country by helping me fund my ILR application. It's very expensive and without fundraising I will simply be unable to apply. :(

    In return for your help, I will do a FANCY DRESS WALK dressed as one of British symbols from Central London to the Home Office in Croydon. Anyone who wants to join me on this long walk (think Big Ben, the BBC, passport, Theresa May, A Cup Of Tea) is very welcome!

    Why do I need ILR

    1) it will stop me living with uncertainty whether I might have my life here cut off every time I apply for a visa renewal, esp in the current climate of toughening immigration rules. The stress of having the danger of being forced to leave the UK hanging over me at all times is hard to describe

    2) it will give me freedom to work anywhere I want without restriction (at the moment my standard work visa is limited to a particular job in a particulal company, I cannot change jobs, I cannot have a second job; when I apply for jobs, I am not allowed to take up work straight away even if the employer wants me there as it has to be advertised to the Brits first for a certain amount of time & if there are no Brits (or EU people who don't need visas) for the job only then I can apply; moreover, if I lose my job, I automatically lose the right to stay in the UK)

    3) I will be allowed to get a mortgage and other loans (I cannot do so at the moment because my visa is time restricted)

    4) (!) On staying in the UK for 12 months after getting ILR, foreign people like me can apply for a British passport

    P.S. Fundraising amount includes JustGiving donations' fee.
