Story
We need to raise funds to transform the school room in our 100 year old Chapel into a modern facility that can be used by the village community. We want to install a modern kitchen and a disabled toilet specially adapted so that no one is excluded from the building. We will then start using the entire building, not only for Methodist Services but for fund raising events like coffee mornings and craft sales. After we sent a questionnaire round the village, we discovered that many residents had community-spirited ideas on how to use the building....but at present it is cold and un-welcoming. We want to encourage Mums and Tots, teenagers and retirees to use the space. We want local historians to hold discussion evenings, we want residents to hold first aid courses and learn how to use the village defibrilator. We want to provide a meeting place for the Parish Council to hold meetings, encouraging residents to attend and get involved with the decision making that affects them and their village. But most of all, we want to leave a building that will be used by future generations.

I would like to make this donation in memory of my late great aunt Alice Houfe who I know you knew very well and who was a regular at the methodist church during her lifetime.

My husband, Trevor and I have been Trustees of the Methodist Chapel since 1985. We have kept the doors open but we realised that we needed help to preserve the building for future generations. A Joint Management Committee was formed last year to take the project forward.
