Story

Hi I am Marek - I have been vegan for two years.

I grew up on a farm in Poland where animal products were the bulk of my diet and day to day life.

I want to prove to friends & family that we can have a physical life, in work and sport, without consuming animal products.

I am running an endurance race in aid of Lotus Heart Sanctuary! This is not just any race though… this is Edinburgh’s first 24 hour endurance run on July 13th 2019 - it's called "Edinburgh 24".

The Lotus vision is to educate people about the animals our society refers to as ‘food’ animals.

To achieve this, the team have worked relentlessly for almost 3 years to set up a vegan sanctuary in Scotland: a safe haven for animals in need of shelter and rescue. While non-vegan sanctuaries do not believe in rescuing animals from slaughter, a vegan sanctuary will attempt to save all animals unconditionally.

Providing an opportunity for interaction with these ex-‘food’ animals is hugely important in enlightening public perspective. This space will serve as a reminder of the sentience and emotional capacity of each and every animal – a far cry from the packaged & barcoded supermarket products they become.

This sanctuary will not solely serve to benefit animals. It will also include facilities offering holistic therapies, Reiki, nutrition, stress management, meditation and relaxation, with a view to providing yoga and counselling too.

There will eventually be a vegan café, and a shop selling all the products from the www.bohemianhippy.com website; a range of animal rights/vegan/peace clothing & merchandise and other vegan related items for health & wellbeing.

Bohemian Hippy is a not-for-profit and exists exclusively to raise awareness and money for animals and Lotus Sanctuary – 100% profits are donated to Lotus.

Please show support by sharing and/or donating to this fundraiser – nothing is too small and all help & support is greatly appreciated.

Thank you
